two years ago in seattle we started an annual tradition - brooke, gavin and bob bob make sand tarts together (bob's grandmother's cookie recipe), and then we give the cookies away to our neighbors/friends/teachers. this tradition is especially fun because bob and the kids mix the dough completely by hand. those 6 hands are almost getting too big for one bowl! the dough refrigerates overnight and then bob spends all day the next day baking the cookies. so, i was thrilled when bob and kaye decided to come down and spend 2 days with us so that the kids could make sand tarts. brooke and gavin were at a great age for it this year, and i love to see them get all messy with grandpa :)
